ECT provided consulting services to a company specialized in the production of aluminum cylinder head and block castings used by the automotive industry for the production of internal combustion engines and is considered the largest aluminum automotive-component foundry in the world. The client required our services to evaluate options for utilizing natural gas in a more efficient and cost-effective manner in order to significantly reduce its use in the company’s manufacturing processes, which involved the following operations: Melting of aluminum scrap Holding alloy for molding process Heat treatment of castings Silica sand recycling
